As we grow up, our aliveness and feelings may not always be fully accepted by parents, teachers, friends, bosses, and spouses. Every child also has experiences that seem designed to demonstrate unworthiness. We begin to protect ourselves from harsh voices and actions. We think we can safeguard our perfect essence by tensing our muscles. But this has an undesired effect. Muscle contractions restrain our natural ability to move, breathe, feel, and express ourselves "effortlessly." Unconsciously, we seek to take up less space in the world so that we'll become less vulnerable to the unpleasant and the unknown. The more we contract, the less inner space we give ourselves. We simply forget who we are. We'd like to mentally disassociate from feelings that don't feel good! Acute pain inevitably ensues such behavior. We rarely remember when we first felt such discomfort, what it's related to. We may not know that physical discomfort begins as unconscious mental resistance to something experienced earlier in life. TragerŪ is better defined as a movement education approach. The touch has light, fluid strength, suited just for you. My intention is to help you relax deeply so you can slip into a meditative state of mind where stressful thoughts that created tensions of mind and body release their hold. Easssy... During a TragerŪ session no oils or lotions are used. The client may want to be fully clothed or in shorts and sport bra -- whatever is comfortable for their physical and emotional comfort. TragerŪ goes deeply in mind and body by helping you relax -- and by connecting your mind with body to create a state of positive awareness and self healing. Letting go of consciousness is the best thing you can do to support your amazing natural healing process! And activate your awesome healing potential! To assist you in practicing Trager-like sessions at home, I will instruct you in MentasticsŪ. This is short for "mental gymnastics." It comprises light, effortless movements similar to the TragerŪ work done for you on the table by a Certified TragerŪ Practitioner. You'll learn movements that you can do at home until your next session on the table. Being a TragerŪ practitioner involves a lot more than technique. A TragerŪ practitioner needs to have worked extensively on herself so as to be in a relaxed, meditative, alert state of consciousness. This leads to an interconnecting energy flow between the practitioner and the client. Milton Trager, M.D., founder of TragerŪ, called this "hook up."
